FIRE & SMOKE RESTORATION
Fire Damage Assessment
An effective emergency response that quickly stabilizes the facility ensures the recovery of as much property as possible. For many contractors, the removal of soot involves different dry and wet cleaning techniques, some of which can’t be trusted to solve the problem.
Removing the smell of smoke can be difficult. Through the use of special odor removal equipment and processes, FIRST CALL can return your property back to normal.
FIRE DAMAGE RESTORATION PROCESS
1. DAMAGE ASSESSMENT
This involves assessing how far the flames and smoke have penetrated into the structure and how extensive any clean up is likely to be. The secondary damage from smoke, soot, and other corrosive byproducts can become permanent if not addressed in a timely manner. We will provide a scope of work and timeline for repairs. Finally we will provide an estimated cost of repirs to you and your insurance company.
2. SECURING PROPERTY & DEBRIS REMOVAL
After the initial damage assessment the next step is to secure the propery. This includes installing removing debris around the perimeter and boarding up openings in the structure, as well as tarping or sealing off parts of the roof to protect what's left of the property from the weather. If other areas of the property were not impacted by the fire, then it's important for us to ensure that this area is sealed off from the area that was impacted to minimize any cross contamination.
3. REMOVAL OF CONTENTS
We will go through the property to assess what contents can be salvaged. If the cost to restore the damaged belongings is less than the cost to replace them, these items will carefully be removed. Taking them off the property, they will then clean, sanitize, and restored. The items can be stored until your property is ready for you to move back in. If your business has been damaged, we also provide commercial customer services to recover damaged records or documents.
4. CONTROLLED DEMOLITION & DRYOUT
When it comes to sections of the property that are not able to be repaired, our team will perform controlled demolition. Damaged drywall, flooring and other materials will be removed down to the studs as necessary.
It’s vital to get the water cleaned up as soon as possible because the longer it sits, the more damage it can cause to the structure and contents. FRIST CALL crews will work with commercial equipment to dry out the structure. Roof tarps will be maintained during this stage to prevent further intrusion of water.
5. CLEANING AND DECONTAMINATION
The surface damage caused by fires requires cleaning. This process consists of sanitizing all affected areas and removing any soot. Any harmful byproducts of the fire need to be cleaned and removed. Following proper clean up, deodorizing agents are used to fully remove any lingering smoke odors and in some cases sealing wood framing.
6. RECONSTRUCTION AND REPAIRS
The final step in returning the property to pre-loss condition is performing any necessary fire damage repairs or to rebuild fire-damaged areas. FIRST CALL can provide complete reconstruction services and take care of all the necessary repairs and rebuild. This option allows for a single point of contact from the beginning to the end of your restoration process, without you having to deal with a handful of different contractors.
